Today officials of National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced the names of approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the 65th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Jamie DeWalt and Matthew Thompson were chosen from Blessed Trinity. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million that will be off ered next spring.     Blessed Trinity believes in creating a culture of philanthropy among its student body. In past years, students have been asked to sell cases of Coca-Cola products to help raise money for the school. This year students have been asked to sell coupon cards. Coupon cards cost $30 and will get you discounts at local restaurants and other retail stores.   In June, Mr. Morzen, Mrs. Birth, Fr. Bob Frederick and 14 students from the BT Habitat for Humanity Club traveled to Spruce Pinces, NC for our summer Collegiate Challenge trip. Spruce Pines is in a beautiful mountain area outside of Asheville and part of the Mitchell Yancey Habitat affiliate.
