"To all who are passionately dedicated to the search for new “epiphanies” of beauty so that through their
creative works as artists they may offer these as gifts to the world."
- Letter of His Holiness Pope John Paul II To Artists, 1999
The Fine Arts are taught at Blessed Trinity to enhance the human experience and bring about a closer, more spiritual
relationship with God and the surrounding world. We provide opportunities for students to explore the arts and acquire
historical and cultural knowledge while developing skills across various arts disciplines.
Study of the fine arts establishes a basis from which the student’s creativity may flourish,
using personal expression to connect the student with the human experience.
The Blessed Trinity Symphonic Band is the centerpiece of the BT band program. The ensemble consists of winds and brass players of all grade levels. All students are welcome to join the band class regardless of previous experience. The ensemble rehearses many genres of music including traditional wind band repertoire, marches, jazz, popular styles, and more contemporary selections. The Symphonic Band features student soloists in our Concerto Program each year.
The Symphonic Band performs several times a year, including at the Fall Fine Arts Festival, the Christmas Celebration Concert and several more performances during the spring semester.
Percussion Ensembles
The Blessed Trinity Band program features a robust percussion program with its two levels of percussion classes.
Introduction to Percussion is a course designed for any and all students with no previous musical experience necessary. Students are taught basic percussion techniques across a variety of percussion instruments as well as rudimentary music reading. The class performs a final concert to demonstrate all they have learned throughout the semester.
Advanced Percussion Ensemble is our upper level percussion course. Students must have previous experience or have completed the Intro class to participate. The advanced course teaches more complex percussion techniques across an even greater variety of instruments. The advanced course performs several times during the year and accompanies the symphonic band on all of its performances.
AP Music Theory
AP Music Theory is a year-long course that is focused on the language of music. Students will study notation, construction, and fluency in music. Students will develop compositional skills utilizing all of their knowledge acquired over the year. The Music Theory students will compose a final work for band that the symphonic band performs at the end of the year. Students will be prepared to take the AP Music Theory Exam when they have completed the course in the Spring semester.
BLESSED TRINITY DRUMLINE - THE TITAN BATTERY
Our Blessed Trinity drumline, the Titan Battery, is an extracurricular ensemble that plays for athletic events. It is open to all students regardless of experience. We have two seasons, one for football and one for basketball.
The Titan Battery exists to serve the Blessed Trinity athletic department, fine arts department, and the BT community as a whole. Focusing on excellence in percussion technique, the BT Battery strives to present an entertaining musical and visual performance at BT football and basketball games, pep rallies, and other athletic and community events. The Titan Battery aims to raise the level of excitement, energy, and engagement in BT crowds.
The Choral Program at Blessed Trinity contains varying groups of energetic and talented students of all grades and vocal levels. There are multiple offerings in the field of vocal music.
The Concert Choir concentrates on developing the students as well-rounded musicians, not just as singers. One focus is preparing music for performance, but the choir also studies music theory and history while examining how music can make them not only a better citizen within their society, but how they can make a better world. The music performed is a challenging and stimulating representation of quality choral repertoire from all historical musical periods, from medieval to contemporary music. This ensemble is a year-long class that meets during the school day. It does not require an audition; however, permission of the teacher is required to join.
The Blessed Trinitones a cappella group is an extra-curricular, auditioned group for the most committed and talented choir members. The group performs pop and musical theater songs with no instruments - just their voices. Auditions are in the spring prior to class registration with rehearsals and performances after school. The rehearsal schedule avoids conflicts with the Theatrical Alliance rehearsal and performance schedule allowing students to participate in both.
Music Ministry is an extra-curricular, non-auditioned ensemble of vocalists and instrumentalists who lead worship music at monthly all-school Masses. The singers and instrumentalists rehearse together on Monday afternoons at 3:00 p.m. The students have a strong influence on song selection and are passionate about their choices for each Mass.
Blessed Trinity's dance program has established itself as a prominent discipline in the Fine Arts Department. The program includes four levels of dance:
Dance Technique
Intermediate Dance
Advanced Dance
Dance Company
All levels of dance have the opportunity to perform with the exception of Dance Technique. Placement is based on auditions. Guest artists and choreographers are frequently invited to work with students and encouraged to choreograph many of their own works.
Dance classes perform each year at the Fall Arts Festival, Alumni and Student Works Concert in January, and Dance Concert & Art Show each spring. The Dance Company and Dance Team also perform at Open House. See the calendar of events for dates, times and ticket information.
The Blessed Trinity Dance Department has had twelve students selected for Governor's Honors in the past 15 years. The dance department at Blessed Trinity encourages students to pursue their interest in dance beyond their high school experience. Many students continue their studies in dance departments throughout the United States including such schools as Florida State University, University of Georgia, University of Alabama, Kennesaw State University, George Mason, Duke, Princeton and The Juilliard School. Many graduates are now pursuing professional careers in Atlanta, New York, Europe, and Los Angeles. Alumni are encouraged to come back to Blessed Trinity to choreograph and share their talents as they grow as artists.
The Blessed Trinity Theater Arts is dedicated to bringing quality performances to the BT stage in an atmosphere of fun and fellowship. The program emphasizes helping each student enrich their emotional, social and educational growth through a variety activities both in production and in the classroom. BTTA provides students with opportunities to learn new theater skills from professional educators and industry recognized special guests in performing, technical theater and design. Students are also encouraged to develop their own creative and leadership skills by writing, directing and designing for theater experiences with our Chapter of the International Thespian Society-Troupe 7498, in productions and classes. All areas of Theater Production (performance and technical) are fostered and encouraged through this established and well recognized program.
Students enrolled in visual arts classes at Blessed Trinity will experience numerous traditional and contemporary art making processes while working to enhance their own artistic voice. The focus of our art courses is on the development of students’ technical skills and higher-order thinking. Students will engage in the creative process, solve visual problems, and pursue open-ended inquiry through the production of artworks. Emphasis will be placed on creativity, problem solving, ideation, developing an informed use of the elements of art and principles of design, along with exploring art history.
