Swim and Dive Coaching Staff


Coach Ilaria Bruce was a four-year varsity swimmer and captain her senior year at Druid Hills High School. She graduated from Spring Hill College with a B.S. in Secondary Education in History. Coach Bruce was the Head Coach of the St. Vincent’s Academy Varsity swim team for four years. She is a member of the Social Studies Department, and also coaches Cross Country and Track. In her spare time, Coach Bruce enjoys reading and baking.


Coach Caroline Finkle graduated from Blessed Trinity in 2013 as a four-time varsity swimmer and school record holder. Caroline was a member of the varsity swim team at UCONN where she received her B.S. in Finance in 2017. She is currently a financial analyst in the insurance industry. Coach Finkle has been working with the BT swim team for several years now.  In her spare time, Caroline enjoys cooking and playing with her dogs. Caroline is looking forward to rejoining the BT community and sharing her love for swimming.


Coach Matt Jones has been a swimmer his entire life. He swam summer league from the age of 5 to 18 years old. He joined the Blessed Trinity Catholic High School's Swim Team during his sophomore year and was part of the state team relays. Despite an injury he joined Chattahoochee Gold his junior year and was a part of BT’s record setting relays. By his senior year he was team captain and lettered in every swimming event. He then received a scholarship to swim at Darton State College and was a NJCAA All-American. After swimming at Darton College, he then transferred to NC State University to study Atmospheric Science. He was a member of NC State's club swimming the rest of college.  He moved back to Atlanta over a year ago and currently works at The Weather Channel. This will be his second year coaching at BT. He also has 5 years of coaching experience in multiple leagues.


Coach Lauren (Dudley) Slay, Blessed Trinity class of 2006, was a 4 year varsity swimmer, state qualifier and school record holder. Lauren went to Georgia Southern University where she swam on the club team for 2 years. She graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. Lauren has enjoyed coaching at Blessed Trinity on and off since 2012. She is the head of the Learning and Development Department at a claims management firm and she lives in Marietta with her husband, 3 dogs, and step daughter. In her spare time, Lauren loves to go to the lake, read a good book, and listen to live music.
