Athletic Department

Coach Turner has been the Athletic Director of Blessed Trinity since the school opening in 2000. During his eleven seasons as the Head Football Coach, Coach Turner lead the Titans to three state playoff appearances. In 2005, Mr. Turner took his football team to its first ever region championship and was named Region 5-AAA Coach of the Year. In that same year, Coach Turner was named the North Fulton Touchdown Club Coach of the Year. In 2008, Coach Turner was again named Coach of the Year by the Roswell Beacon Newspaper. Coach Turner, the founding athletic director at BT, was named the 2007-2008 Director of the Year for AAA classification. 

Turner led the school when it was honored with the 2003-2004 Georgia Athletic Directors Association Director's Cup for the best overall sports program in the state. In 2004, 2007, 2008, 2014, and 2016 he led the Titans to the girl's Director's Cup for the best overall girls' program, and the 2006 Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Award for Region 5-AAA. The school's athletic program was once again awarded the Director’s Cup in 2009. During the 2010-11 school year, Ricky Turner was named Athletic Director of the Year for the State of Georgia.

Coach Turner came to BTHS from St. Pius X High School, his alma mater, where he was the offensive coordinator for the football team and the assistant baseball coach from 1997-2000. In 1999, he helped lead the Golden Lion football team to its first state playoff appearance in 20 years. Prior to that, he was the defensive coordinator on the varsity football team at Salem High School in Conyers and was the head baseball coach in 1997. He joined Salem in 1992, one year after the school opened, and was involved in the building and developing of their athletic program. During his college career at the University of Georgia, he was a walk-on the football team where he earned a football scholarship. In addition, he was named to the All-SEC Academic Football Team and was the recipient of the Olin-Huff Award for the Most Outstanding Walk-On Athlete at the University of Georgia. 

Ricky’s wife, Lynn, is also a graduate of the University of Georgia and received her high school diploma from Marist High School. Ricky and Lynn have four sons, Ricky Jr., Justin, and twins Matthew and Christopher. Their precious daughter, Jessica, is watching over the Titans from Heaven.

Coach Barden has been with the BT football program since 2003 and started his football coaching career in 1991. During his tenure here at BT he was the defensive coordinator for six years and has coached defensive line, linebackers and the secondary. Mr. Barden is now the Director of Football Operations and coaches the offensive line for the freshmen football team. Coach Barden is also an Assistant Athletic Director and is the head wrestling coach at Blessed Trinity. In addition to athletics, Coach Barden teaches AP Economics and Advanced Economics in the Social Studies Department. Coach Barden's wife, Jeannie, is the Media Specialist at Holy Redeemer and his daughter, Jana (19’), is at the University of South Carolina Beaufort where she throws the shot put and the hammer while pursuing a dual degree in Marine Ecology and Hospitality.

 

Coach O'Donnell is an Assistant Athletic Director and also teaches AP Psychology. She has been a member of the Blessed Trinity faculty since 2003. She is a graduate of the University of Tennessee where she majored in Psychology and minored in English and Secondary Education. She completed her Master's Degree in Secondary Education at UT as well.  

Jan went to St. Pius X Catholic High School where she was a four year member of the Varsity softball team. During her high school career, she earned three all-state honors, was named AJC (Dekalb County) Player of the Year, and was the AAA Pitcher of the Year. Coach O'Donnell was the starting pitcher for St. Pius and helped lead the team to the State Championship during her sophomore year. 

Coach O'Donnell coached softball at Blessed Trinity for eleven years. During her coaching career she was named Region Coach of the Year (2006, 2007, 2012), Northside Coach of the Year (2006), and AAA State Coach of the Year (2007). She was  also selected as a GACA Allstar game coach three times. During her eight years as head coach of the softball program, Coach O'Donnell led her team to a 3rd place finish, a Final Four finish, three Region Championships, and numerous Elite 8 appearances. Her greatest accomplishment, however, was leading her team to a State Championship in 2007.  

Jan and her husband, Brendan, have three daughters: McKinley, Cameron, and Whitley.  

 

This is Nancy-Jane Greene’s first year at Blessed Trinity High School. She is excited to become a part of the Blessed Trinity community as the Administrative Assistant in the Athletic Department. She is a graduate of Florida Atlantic University where she majored in Elementary Education. A highlig​ht memory from her high school years at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was being chosen to perform with the All-American Drill Team for the half-time show of The Hula Bowl in Honolulu, Hawaii. She moved to Georgia this past summer from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where she taught in the Archdiocese of Miami Catholic Schools since the year 2000. She has one son and loves spending time with her family, listening to country music, country line dancing, and exploring the beauty of North Georgia.
