Coach Johnson has been the head boys Cross Country coach since 2013 and in 2017 he became the head girls Cross Country coach as well. He has led the boys cross country team to 4 Region Championships, two State Championships and has coached one individual state champion, two region champions, two state runner-up and 12 all-state runners. He has led the girls to two Region Championship, three State Runner-Up team finishes, one individual state champion, two region champions, two state runner-ups and 10 all-state runners. In the Fall of 2014 and 2015, Coach Johnson was the 3A Boys All-Metro Coach of the Year. In the Spring of 2019, Coach Johnson was named the Georgia Girls Distance Track Coach of the Year. In the Fall of 2019, Coach Johnson received the Paul Koshewa Outstanding Girls Coach Dedication Award. In the Fall of 2020, Coach Johnson was named the 5A Boys Cross Country coach of the Year. Coach Johnson graduated from Blessed Trinity in the Class of 2005. While at Blessed Trinity, he was senior class president and ran on the 2003 state championship cross country team. In the spring of Coach Johnson’s junior year, he joined the track team and scored points toward the boy's team win and their first region championship. Coach Johnson captained the cross country team his senior year and set the school record at Berry running 16:15. He went on to run under Coach Drosky at Georgia Tech. While at Tech, he lettered in both cross country and track. His senior year, he was the number two runner on the team finishing 43rd at the ACC Championships running 25:09 for 8k, and he led the team finishing 49th at the South Regional Cross Country Championships running a 32:11 for 10k. His personal best performances include 15:08(5k) and 31:26(10k). Coach Johnson ran 23 consecutive Peachtree Road Races and finished in the top 100 fourteen times and the top 50 for 6 consecutive years (2014-2019). Coach Johnson ran a 32:10 PR in the 2014 Peachtree Road Race and in the 2015 Peachtree Road Race he finished in 20th place. Coach Johnson ran the 2011 California International Marathon in 2:32:12.
Coach Ilaria Johnson joined the BT Girls Cross Country coaching staff in 2019. Along with coaching Cross Country, Coach Johnson coaches Swimming and Track. Her girls swim team won the state championship in 2020. Coach Johnson was a four-year varsity swimmer and captain her senior year at Druid Hills High School. She graduated from Spring Hill College with a B.S. in Secondary Education in History. Mrs. Johnson is a member of the Social Studies Department. In her spare time, she enjoys running, reading, baking and going on walks with her husband, Coach Greg Johnson, and their dog, Captain.
Chad Johnson is one of our AP physics teacher and has been coaching cross country at Blessed Trinity since 2013. He coached cross country for 6 years at his previous school, and he ran cross country and track in high school at St. Pius X. Coach Johnson plays a pivotal role in defining what we need to do as a team so our momentum keeps the BT cross country team on a trajectory to the top.
Coach Rountree has been a member of the BT faculty since 2003. He teaches in the Health and Physical Education Department and serves as an Assistant Cross Country Coach and Head Girls' Basketball Coach. Coach Rountree was a member of the Georgia Southern University cross country team where he received his B.S. degree in Health and Physical Education.
Coach Natalie Kile, BT Class of 2013, joined the BT Girls Cross Country coaching staff in 2019. In high school, Coach Kile was one of BT's top runners in Cross Country and Track. Coach Kile finished All-State in the 2010 and 2012 Cross Country State Championships. In her senior year, Natalie finished third in the 3200 and fifth in the 1600 at the Track State Championships. She continued her running at App State, where she was one of App State's top cross country runners. At the 2016 Sunbelt Conference Cross Country Championship, Coach Kile's 12th place finish helped App State win the conference championship. She has PRs of 17:58 (indoor 5k) and 37:14 (10k).
Coach Ammons formerly coached BT Track and Jr. Titans Cross Country teams and is excited to be a part of the BT Cross Country program starting Fall 2020. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.A. in English and from Mercer University with an M.A.T in Secondary English Education.
