As a player, he was involved in one of the biggest plays in BT baseball history. In the 2006 state championship game, he caught Jonathan Kolowich's throw from right field to cut down the potential tying run as the runner attempted to knock the ball loose. He held onto the ball and preserved a 2-1 win and the Titans first state championship. Coach Contratto was a 3 sport athlete at BT, lettering in baseball, football, and wrestling. After graduating, Coach Contratto played football at Wittenberg University, then finished his schooling at Kennesaw State University.
