Mental Wellness Initiative
Blessed Trinity's Mental Wellness Initiative is focused on strengthening a sense of connection within our school community. Since the beginning of the school year, all realms of our community have been focused and collaborating on supporting and fostering growth in helping our students connect to one another and our school. Together, we’re building a stronger, more resilient community!
According to the Global Wellness Institute, mental wellness can be defined as "an internal resource that helps us think, feel, connect, and function; it is an active process that helps us build resilience, grow, and flourish."
Introducing Winnie - Blessed Trinity's Newest Counselor and Therapy Dog

Students who engage with therapy dogs experience a 60% decrease in cortisol levels, the hormone associated with stress and anxiety (Beetz et al., 2012).
Interactions with therapy dogs can lead to improved mood and a 30% reduction in self-reported anxiety during the school day (Ein et al., 2018).
Schools that incorporate therapy dogs report enhanced social-emotional development, increased classroom engagement, and improved attendance (American Psychological Association, 2020).
Even short visits with a therapy dog can lead to lower blood pressure, reduced heart rate, and a general sense of calm—all key factors in promoting student well-being and focus.

Blessed Trinity Counselors are available to speak with students and support them on their mental wellness journey. Students are able to either have drop-ins to the office or can schedule an appointment. Blessed Trinity counselors, faculty and staff are committed to helping students feel connected to the school and their faith.
