Title IV Funding Helps Transform Broadcasting at Blessed Trinity

Title IV Funding Helps Transform Broadcasting at Blessed Trinity

What began as a small student club has grown into a daily multimedia journalism program at Blessed Trinity Catholic High School, thanks in part to Title IV funding from the Fulton County Department of Education's Federal Programs.

The transformation has happened quickly. Over the past three years, BT’s student news program progressed from a monthly show, to twice-weekly broadcasts as a club, to an academic class meeting every other day. Today, students gather every morning to produce BT News for the school community.

Title IV funding has helped make that growth possible by supporting professional-level cameras, microphones, lighting, editing software and a dedicated studio space. These resources give students hands-on experience in journalism, media production, digital citizenship and communication.

And BT News is only one part of the Multimedia Journalism class. Students serve as anchors, producers, writers, editors, directors and technical crew while also creating digital content for @btnewsnetwork and helping share stories from athletics, performing arts and throughout the BT community.

Through this real-world experience, students develop skills in communication, collaboration, creativity, digital storytelling and media production while helping strengthen communication and school spirit across campus.

Title IV funding has done more than provide equipment. It has helped give students a voice, create new opportunities for leadership and transform a small club into a thriving academic program. We are deeply grateful to Fulton County for helping us create meaningful opportunities for our students to learn, lead and share the stories of the Blessed Trinity community.
