The Tradition Begins

• January 29, 1999: Archbishop John Donoghue breaks ground
• Mr. Frank Moore named Principal of Blessed Trinity Catholic High School
• First day of school: August 17, 2000
• Student body consisted of: 55 sophomores, 164 freshmen; 35 employees (17 of whom were teachers)
• School colors and mascot chosen by Archdiocese of Atlanta: Monarchs
  • After students submitted 40 different names for Blessed Trinity's mascot, a committee consisting of three faculty and eight students narrowed down the options to five. Ballots were distributed to all students, and Titans won on the first ballot, getting more than 50% of the votes.
• April 20, 2002 - First Prom held at the Michael Carlos Museum at Emory University
• May 24, 2003 - First graduation took place in the school theater.

Athletics

• First athletic game: August 24, 2000 - JV Softball lost to St. Pius X 11-0
• First athletic victory: August 28, 2000 - JV Volleyball
• One varsity team: baseball
  • Coach Brad Kolowich knew he had good players and decided to play an all-freshman varsity (sophomore were ineligible because they were all transfers). A mistake in the paperwork had BT in Class AAAA instead of A (based on projected future enrollment, rather than actual enrollment). They played in a region with St. Pius X, Marist, and other large schools. The team finished with an 7-9 region record and just missed the state playoffs by one game. The team featured pitcher Ryan Testerman, who threw a no-hitter, and catcher Tyler Flowers, who went on to have a long professional career, mostly with the Braves.
• First State Championship: 2023 Girls Golf Team

Fine Arts

• Theater design was subbed to theater professionals, making it by far the most expensive part of the construction. Archbishop Donoghue wanted the theater to be a community outreach, made available to other groups in the community.
• First theatrical performance: Madrigal Dinner performed in the cafeteria, with all areas of the arts performing around an Elizabethan-style meal.

Campus Ministry

• Father Tim Hepburn becomes first chaplain of Blessed Trinity Catholic High School

Student Life

To increase student involvement in the school, a house system was introduced, with all students randomly placed into one of eight houses and within each house, into one of five family groups.

Athletics

The field house adjoining the football stadium was increased in size by over 60%, with larger locker rooms, a weight room, training room, film room, and coaches’ offices.

2008-2009 - For the second time, Blessed Trinity’s athletic program was awarded the Georgia Athletic Directors Association All-Sports Director’s Cup as the most successful overall AA program in the state.

Academics

The Academic Team won the state championship.

2011-2012 "This is Our Moment" capital campaign launched.

Athletics

Capital campaign raised funds to install artificial turf on the baseball field, the lower field, which became the new home of lacrosse and the main stadium field which became the home of soccer as well as football.

Academics

Blessed Trinity named a 2014 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education.

To demonstrate the technological advancements within the school and provide a unique learning experience for our students, two “virtual school days” were conducted in October 2014, with the teachers in the building and the students “attending” all classes at home.

Fine Arts

The capital campaign raised funds for the construction of a Fine Arts Annex.

Academics

Blessed Trinity became a 1:1 Chromebook School. All students and teachers were issued Chromebooks.

Blessed Trinity's Media Center becomes a state-of-the-art Learning Commons and a STEAM lab is constructed to house the new Engineering and Robotics courses for the 2017-2018 school year.

Founding Principal Frank Moore retires at the end of the 2015-2016 school year.

Mr. Brian Marks, Assistant Principal at Blessed Trinity from 2001-2015, becomes the second principal of Blessed Trinity on July 1, 2016.

Student enrollment reaches 1000 students.

2018-2019: The Archdiocese of Atlanta implements the President/Principal Model at Blessed Trinity. Mr. Brian Marks becomes the school’s first president and Ms. Cathy Lancaster becomes the school’s third principal.

Athletics

2017-2018: SportsLeader, a Catholic virtue-based-formation program, is implemented and utilized effectively by the entire athletic program.

2017-2018: Football, Girls Swim and Boys Lacrosse teams each win their first state championship.

2018-2019: Football wins second straight state championship.

2019-2020: Football, Volleyball and Girls Swim teams win state championships.

Campus Ministry

2018-2019: Father Bob Frederick was appointed school chaplain. A group of students travelled to South Carolina to participate in the first Kairos retreat.

Several students and faculty members build a “Tiny Home” to be donated to a local veteran organization where it will be used as housing for homeless veterans.

Fine Arts

The Fine Arts Annex, part of the capital campaign, is completed in 2017 and opens at the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year.

2019-2020: The dance team won a state championship for the first time in school history for their performance in Jazz.

2017: Blessed Trinity committed for the first time to the NCEA National Day of Giving and had the highest amount raised and second highest number of gifts of the 539 Catholic schools who participated.

Our 20th school year began with the completion of several exciting projects. Our main and auxiliary gymnasiums were completely renovated, a 14’ Crucifix was constructed and installed in our stadium, an information board which will contain much of the history of the school was placed in our lobby, and a new school website was launched.

We hosted our first ever day of spiritual renewal, “Elevate: Reflect, Equip, Elevate Your Faith.” Our first Alumni Weekend took place with events for alumni spanning three days. A Strategic Plan for 2020-2025 was developed with input from all of our stakeholders. Classes were held virtually from March 16 through final assessments, as was Baccalaureate and Graduation, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

2021-2022: After finishing the previous school year virtually, Blessed Trinity reopened its doors in August giving students the option to take classes in person “On Campus” or remotely “Off Campus.”

With COVID protocols in place, several enhancements were made to the building to ensure the safest environment for our faculty, staff and students.  Some of the building enhancements included the installation of hands free bathroom faucets and toilets, BiPolar Ionizers in the HVAC systems, new sheet vinyl flooring and wall mounted touchless hand sanitizers. 

This year marked many firsts for our school, including the first prom held on school grounds, the first freshman and senior funfests, the first outdoor baccalaureate and graduation ceremonies and the first boys track state championship.

2023-2024: The Archdiocese of Atlanta Office of Catholic Schools makes the decision to return to the President/Principal model at Blessed Trinity and begins a search for a new President.

March 2024: Mr. Marcos Arias becomes the second president of Blessed Trinity Catholic High School.
