BT Will Celebrate the “Year for Priests”
Pope Benedict XVI declared a “Year For Priests,” that began on June 19. The theme for this special year, according to the wishes of our Holy Father, is: “Faithfulness of Christ, Faithfulness of Priests.”
We are asked to pray for our priests, reaffirm them, their work and their vocation. BT will celebrate our priests, Father Ricardo Bailey and Father Augustine Tran throughout the year with prayer and special tributes.
This year also marks the 150th anniversary of St. John Vianney, a humble French parish priest, whom Pope, Pius XI declared the Patron of Parish Priests. BT’s Vianney House will honor our priests at the September All-school Mass and each house will continue to acknowledge them at each subsequent All-school Mass.
Students will have the opportunity in their Theology classes to sign up to take the Elijah Cup home and pray for vocations.
“May this year be an occasion for a period of intense appreciation of the priestly identity, of the theology of the Catholic priesthood, and of the extraordinary meaning of the vocation and mission of priests within the Church and in society with the warm participation of our Catholic people who undoubtedly love their priests and want to see them happy, holy and joyous in their daily apostolic labors.” (Cardinal Claudio Hummes, Prefect of the Congregation for the Clergy)
