Habitat for Humanity Happenings
BT has once again been invited to be a partner in Marist’s annual Women Build in Atlanta. Last year, BT co-eds and their moms had a great time building and erecting walls for a new home for a single mom and her children. In order to participate in the Women Build, BT needs to raise $10,000 by April 1 to help with construction costs. Volunteers will be asked to raise $150 in donations to aid the fundraising efforts, and sponsorships are being sought from the local community. Time is short... if you or someone you know would like to be part of this project or make a donation, please contact HFH moderator, Kathy Hoffman, or campus ministry’s Patti McCarthy TODAY!
Habitat’s annual Chariot Film Festival will showcase new student and alumni films in the BT Theater at 7:30pm on Friday, February 5. Come, support Habitat, and vote for the Best Film of 2010. Admission is $5, and all proceeds go toward construction of Habitat’s next Youth United home in North Fulton.
For the second year in a row, BT ‘s Habitat chapter is the recipient of a State Farm matching grant. This year, State Farm offered only seven grants to high schools in the U.S, and we are pleased to report that four of those grants went to schools in North Fulton! This year’s grant presentation will take place at the Chariot Film Festival.
BT’s relationship with State Farm took on a personal dimension at the November building day in Milton, as BT students and State Farm employees worked side-by-side on the Abdherramane family’s home. We look forward to our continuing partnership with State Farm to change the face of our community, one house at a time.
