Lady Titans Bring Home Trophy

In an amazing display of defense, pitching and at-bat power, the Blessed Trinity softball team took home the championship trophy at the Cass Tournament held in Cartersville, Georgia. In an impressive six-game series, the Lady Titans only allowed three runs to score while bringing home 24.

“I think this tournament showed us that we can compete with anyone,” said a proud Jan Podhorez, head coach for the Titans. “It gave us the confidence that we will need to be successful in the upcoming weeks with the Region tournament and Sectionals. It also showed us the things we need to work on in order to be the best we can possibly be.”

BT defeated Cartersville (4-0), Rockdale County (1-0), Pickens (2-0), Hillgrove (2-0), Elbert Co. (11-0), and Central Carroll (4-3).  Junior Amber Hamilton pitched all six games with an extraordinary four shutouts and a no hitter against Pickens.  She had 59 K’s in 44 innings.  Other notables during the tournament included senior Rachel Rivardo who had several hits, leading the team in batting average, and freshman Katie Hawkins with a triple in the championship game.

Come out and support the Lady Titans as they head to Region playoffs on October 9th.  Sectionals and State are the last two weeks in October.
