St. Peregine Club

St. Peregrine Club is named in honor of the patron saint for those suffering with cancer as well as those in remission.  St. Peregrine experienced cancer and was cured so he knew first-hand the challenges of this disease.

Our club focuses on helping families and individuals, especially children.  Club founder, Claire Millsaps (class of 2018), was passionate about helping children with cancer.  Two of her young cousins had been diagnosed with this disease.

We host dinners and brunches on a regular basis throughout the year at Ronald McDonald House where families come to stay while their children are undergoing treatment or surgery at near-by Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.  Students determine the menu, bring all the ingredients, and cook and serve meals to the residents. They also get the opportunity to visit with them while they are enjoying comfort food.

A club activity during September, the month dedicated to childhood cancer, is sponsoring a cake raffle during one of BT’s home football games with the proceeds going to the Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research.

The club also supports Lauren’s Run, an annual event sponsored by CURE Childhood Cancer.
