Service Opportunities for March


Opportunities will be posted on the Campus Ministry bulletin board throughout the month. Reminder—15 service hours (annual requirement: minimum 10 Mercy hours, maximum 5 other hours) are due no later than Friday, April 29. Students must contact each organization to schedule a date and time.

If the service requirement is not met, report cards will be with-held and access to grades on line will be denied. Seniors (if eligible) will not be exempt from final exams and they will not be allowed to walk at graduation.

Hunger Walk/Run

Join the BT team on Sunday 13, for the annual Hunger Walk through downtown Atlanta, co-sponsored by St. Vincent de Paul Society. Registration opens at noon and everyone is encouraged to come early to enjoy the entertainment, food and games before the race... The 5k run starts at 2 p.m., followed by the walk. All walkers and runners are encouraged to park in the Turner Field Blue Lot.

Jubilee Music Class for Autistic Children

Mondays and Fridays, this class, a combination of fun, goofy games and music, is held at Queen of Angels, from 3:30 p.m. – 5:15. BT students who have participated and helped with the activities return multiple times because they love it. Contact Jeanne Lyons (lyonstunes@aol.com or call 770-355-1003).

MUST Ministries (www.mustministries.org)

Work consists of many different tasks: receiving donations at the Donation Center, making meals in the Kitchen, distributing food or clothing in the Pantry or at MUSTwear, working in the Homeless shelter, and cleaning the grounds, offices or buildings.

Soup Kitchens

Every Saturday morning, volunteers at St. Francis Table help set up and serve food to the homeless in the basement of the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Call ahead to schedule a Saturday (7 a.m. – Noon) you will serve: 404-521-1866.

Trinity Table

This is the oldest, Sunday-only soup kitchen in metro Atlanta. Located at Trinity United Methodist Church, in downtown Atlanta, this program offers an outlet for volunteers to express their compassion through service to the poor. Trinity Table starts serving homeless guests at 12:30 p.m. There are four half-hour seatings throughout the afternoon. Contact Barbara Bishop, Volunteer Coordinator, at 404-577-6651 or email barbarab@tcmatlanta.org

Foster Care Support Foundation

Volunteers are needed most Saturdays, from 10am – 1pm, to perform Works of Mercy. Contact Jean Rearick j2rearick@gmail.com or 404-786-4490.

North Fulton Community Charities

Food Pantry: Volunteers are needed to receive and sort food donations, stock shelves and distribute food to clients. Hours of operation are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Tuesday 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Reception Desk: Volunteers are needed for registering clients, answering telephones, data entry, filing and assisting with special mailings. Food Pantry shifts and hours of operation apply.
