Ryann's Biography from the Mr. and Ms. Georgia Tech Competition
Ryann Kopacka is a 4th year Industrial Engineering major from Alpharetta, Georgia. She holds three school records on the Varsity Swim Team and is Vice President of Omicron Delta Kappa. She is a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and founding Secretary of the National Society of Professional Engineers Georgia Tech chapter. She is sponsored by Delta Sigma Phi.
Alumni Athlete Sets two University Records!
Ryann continues to swim for GA Tech and this past December broke two five-year records at the Phillips Conoco US Short Course Nationals the week of December 5-7th, 2008. She set a new school record in the 100-backstroke, touching th wall in 55.33 as she just missed the NCAA "B" cut. She also set the Tech record in the 200-back, swimming 1:59.60 in the timed trials. Ryann was named the Georgia Tech Student Athlete of the Week for December 8, 2008. Keep up the great dedication, Ryann.
A Study Abroad!
Ryann went on a study abroad through GA Tech's Industrial and Systems Engineering Department. She was invited to swim at the Singapore Swimming National Championchips through the Swimfast Singapore Swim Club where she took 2nd place in the long course 200 meter backstroke posting a personal best time of 2:27:03. Kopacka ‘06 Receives Athletic Award
Ryann Kopacka, a freshman at Georgia Tech, was honored at the Yellow Jackets’ Swim and Dive Team annual banquet in April. Ryann, a member of the university’s swim team, received the Chapman/Hiles Most Improved Athlete Award - a distinct honor for a rookie!
Named after John Chapman and Johnny Hiles, this award is given to the student athlete with the greatest improvement throughout the year of competition. Ryann received the award having posted lifetime best times in the 100 yard backstroke, 200 yard backstroke, and the 200 yard Individual Medley.
