Tyler Flowers '04


Tyler Flowers, Blessed Trinity class of 2004 grad, is currently making an impact in baseball on the professional level. Flowers, was traded to the Chicago White Sox from the Atlanta Braves on December 4th 2008, and is climbing the organizational ranks. Tyler had his first Major League hit on September 19, 2009 against the Kansas City Royals.

Prior to being called up Flowers was named to the Carolina League All-Star Team in 2008 after hitting .288 with 17 homeruns and 88 runs batted in. He led the Carolina League in walks (98), and ranked second in on-base plus slugging percentage (.921), and on base percentage (.427). He finished 4th in RBI, 5th in slugging percentage (494.), tied for 9th in total bases (204), and tied for 10th in doubles (32). He also hit .387 with 12 HR and 23 RBI and 25 runs scored in just 20 games with the Mesa Solar Sox in the Arizona Fall League. He led the league in home runs, OPC (1.433), and slugging percentage (.973).

He was named to the AFL Rising Starts team as well. In 3 minor league seasons he has hit .291 with 75 doubles, 34 homers, 174 RBI, and 161 runs scored in just 262 games. He was named the Rome Braves Player of the Year in 2007.
