Luke Donovan Delivers Warmth to Needy

After reading a story in the paper about how many elementary school kids go to school hungry on Monday mornings, BT freshman Luke Donovan decided to make a difference.

Luke spoke with Ms. Toni Vilardi, advisor of BT’s SVdP group, and with her full blessing started to research schools in the area that might need help.  The principal at Mimosa Elementary in Roswell, told him that her students could sure use warm clothing. With that  information at hand, and lots of determination in his heart, Luke contacted various groups at his parish, The Catholic Church of St. Ann,  including their SVdP organization, LifeTeen, and Adopt-A-Family. He also got in touch with Queen of Angels and pestered all of his family’s friends and neighbors.

“Luke motivated our BT SVDP conference to bring in and shop for warm clothing for Mimosa Elementary,” said Mrs. Vilardi. “He has a servant heart and is a blessing to our community!”

In total, Luke delivered 250 items of clothing - sweaters, pants, mittens, and 121 coats! For the record, Luke refused to turn in a service hour form for this project. “That’s not why I did it,” he said.
