Career Day 2010 - October 19
Career Day is scheduled for Tuesday, October 19.
Continuing our goal of introducing students to rewarding careers, while emphasizing the connection between service and vocation, Career Day again will feature both career presentations and a service fair. In addition to parent speakers and guests from the community, our growing roster of Blessed Trinity alums will be tapped so that students continue to benefit from their experience in college and career planning.
The objectives of Career Day are as follows:
- Present career as part of a vocation that encompasses not only work, but also service and home life
- Demonstrate how service experiences can lead to rewarding careers
- Give students the opportunity to investigate opportunities for satisfying the service hour requirement, as well as for exploring skills and interests
- Include students in all four grades so that they can use the content to plan course selections, service time, part-time work, and college searches, as well as make the most of their high school time in preparation for college and career.
The day will begin with an assembly in the gym featuring a keynote speaker. Students will then move to classrooms and other locations to hear a slate of four speakers, based on the preferences they indicate in a survey. These sessions will be hosted by BT Ambassadors. A service fair will feature information tables in the lobby through the lunch period so that students can get information about service hour projects and sign up for specific opportunities.
We need a number of parent volunteers to make this important day a success. If you can help with any of the following, please contact Polly Hyatt at firstname.lastname@example.org:
Hospitality coordinator: plan continental breakfast; manage greeters and hosts
Hospitality support: provide food for the speaker breakfast
Service fair coordinator: recruit and coordinate service fair participants
Speaker coordinator: manage communications with speakers and planning of the speaker sessions
Logistics and technology coordinator: work with BT facilities management on room setup
Speakers: need engaging representatives from a variety of fields at varying levels of career experience
