Fine Arts Drama
The Blessed Trinity Theatrical Alliance under the direction of Allan Dodson is dedicated to bringing quality performances to the BT stage in an atmosphere of fun and fellowship. The program’s emphasis is on student ownership, with students also filling most of the lead technical roles and assisting with the design and production of sets. Students are challenged to express themselves by increasing their performance and directing skills along with developing their acting technique, creating and directing their own plays, preparing and exploring for auditions and opportunities here at BT and beyond. All areas of Theatre Production including technical are fostered and encouraged through this established and well recognized program.
Over the past 15 years, BT students have had the chance to be a part of Pippin, Cats, How to Succeed, Sweeney Todd, and many other musicals and plays. Working closely with the band, choral and dance departments within the Fine Arts department, students have the incredible opportunity to collaborate, stretch their skills, and be a part of fuller large scale productions. Our production of CHICAGO this year (come see it January 19-21!) is being developed in conjunction with our dance and music departments. Students were required to audition for this production last spring and are enrolled in a Theater Production class for the fall semester.
A recent trip to London and Paris allowed drama students to see several West End plays and participate in French artistic culture including a trip to the Louvre museum. We traditionally travel during spring break every other year, alternating between New York and London.
Annually, BT sends 20+ students to be a part of the Georgia Thespian Conference – Thescon. The Georgia Thespian Conference, February 9-11, 2017, features numerous productions presented by high schools from throughout the state. For the 2015-2016 conference, BT Participants brought home 3 Superior ratings and a near perfect score for current senior, Aline O’Neil.
