RICKY TURNER Athletic Director Head Football Coach
COLLEGE: University of Georgia
Coach Turner is in his 11th year at Blessed Trinity and has lead the Titans to three state play-off appearances. In 2005, Mr. Turner took his football team to its first-ever region championship and was named Region 5-AAA Coach of the Year. In that same year, Coach Turner was named the North Fulton Touchdown Club Coach of the Year. In 2008, Coach Turner was again named Coach of the Year by the Roswell Beacon Newspaper. Coach Turner, the founding athletic director at BT, was named the 2007-2008 Director of the Year for AAA classification.
Turner lead the school when it was honored with the 2003-2004 Georgia Athletic Directors Association Director's Cup for the best over-all sports program in the state. In 2004, 2007 and 2008, he lead the Titans to the girl's Director's Cup for the best over-all girls' program, and the 2006 Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Award for Region 5-AAA. Most recently the school's athletic program were once again awarded the Director’s Cup in 2009.
Coach Turner came to BTHS from St. Pius X High School, his alma mater, where he was the offensive coordinator for the football team and the assistant baseball coach from 1997 – 2000. In 1999, he helped lead the Golden Lion football team to its first state play-off appearance in 20 years. Prior to that, he was the defensive coordinator on the varsity football team at Salem High School in Conyers and was the head baseball coach in 1997. He joined Salem in 1992, one year after the school opened and was involved in the building and developing of their athletic program. During his college career at the University of Georgia, he was a walk-on the football team where he earned a football scholarship. In addition, he was named to the All-SEC Academic Football Team and was the recipient of the Olin-Huff Award for the Most Outstanding Walk-On Athlete at the University of Georgia.
Ricky’s wife Lynn, is also a graduate of the University of Georgia and received her high school diploma from Marist High School. Ricky and Lynn have four sons, Ricky Jr., Justin, and twins Matthew and Christopher. Their precious daughter, Jessica, is watching over the Titans from Heaven.
