Feeding the Homeless with SVdP

fiogf49gjkf0d

The Blessed Trinity Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, led by Co-Presidents Geoff Crisanti and Thomas Langa, both seniors at BT, has been serving the needs of young people who are homeless or at risk at the outreach center of Stand Up for Kids in Atlanta. Stand up for Kids, a non-profit organization, helps homeless and at-risk youth in cities across America. Volunteers go out and help these children by inviting them back to a Stand Up for Kids home base. The second Wednesday of every month members from Blessed Trinity’s St Vincent de Paul conference go downtown and feed the young people casseroles, salad, and desserts prepared by the BT community. SVdP could use your help with donations or to help drive downtown. E-mail Ms. Toni Vilardi, SVdP sponsor and Theology teacher, if you can help: tvilardi@btcatholic.org.

About 30 St Vincent de Paul students went down to St. Francis Table soup kitchen at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Atlanta on October 10. This is a rewarding experience and work of mercy in which the students set up and served lunch to more than 500 of the homeless and needy of Atlanta. For some of our students it was the first time they were face to face with such a poor population.

On Saturday, November 14, SVdP will be feeding 35-40 Habitat for Humanity workers both breakfast and lunch at an Alpharetta build site. The workers will include about 15-20 of our BT Habitat students. SVdP needs as much help as possible preparing and donating food for these hard-working folks! Please see Ms. Vilardi if you can help. tvilardi@btcatholic.org.

BT’s St. Vincent de Paul has been truly blessed with many wonderful moms and dads who have helped tremendously in our ministry to the needy. Ms. Vilardi would especially like to thank the following parents: Mr. and Mrs. Tom Langa, Mrs. Mary Crisanti, Mrs. Lisa Gittings, Mrs. Clouser, Mrs. Bailey, Mrs. Henry, and  Mrs. Javadi. These parents have cooked casseroles, donated supplies, and driven us to our destinations. God bless you all!!
