Assistant Coach Vern Hakes

Vern Hakes is a 43-year resident of the East Cobb community and graduated from Walton HS in 1982. In 1987 he graduated from Georgia Tech with a BS in Management where he also played Rugby. Introduced to lacrosse when his oldest son, Rob, began playing in 2007, he has developed a passion for the game. Coaching in both the Walton Junior Lacrosse Program (2009 – 2015), and in the summer with Thunder Lacrosse (2012-2015), Vern has worked to become a student of the game and how it can best be taught to youth players. To that end, he currently holds the Level 3 Coaching Certification from US Lacrosse and Level 1 & 2 Certifications from the Positive Coaching Alliance.

Vern is very excited to be a part of the BT family - involved as a coach in the Junior Titan Lacrosse program and as a parent of a player in the Varsity lacrosse program. He currently lives in East Cobb with his wife Kim (GT- ’94), daughter Caroline (Junior at Walton), and sons Rob (BT 2019) and Will (BT “hopeful” 2021).
