Blessed Trinity’s Athletic Director, Ricky Turner, has been named Georgia’s Class AAA Athletic Director of the Year. Turner was recognized during the Georgia Athletic Directors Association’s (GADA) meeting in Savannah. Turner’s name was thrown in the state competition after he was named Region-5AAA AD of the Year.

For Turner, who is completing his 8th year as BT’s athletic director and head football coach, being acknowledged by his professional peers and the GADA board is a very important part of his job. "This award means we are doing things right at Blessed Trinity," said Turner. "It is not always easy to coordinate and organize a program with 22 varsity sports teams and over 50 athletic teams covering the area we do. All the hard work is worth it when I see what it means to the kids. To be a part of their pride, effort, determination, and dedication is why I am an athletic director."

According to Blessed Trinity’s principal, Frank Moore, the school’s latest athletic award is received with tremendous pride. "Ricky Turner deserves this award. He is the most dedicated athletic director I know," said Moore. "To be named the best athletic director of the 84 in Class AAA is a wonderful recognition. His commitment to this program is unrivaled and his encouragement to the coaches and players is unmatched.

"We have been blessed with gifted student athletes and spirited coaches," continued Moore, "and Coach Turner brings them all together for a winning combination. I can’t wait to see what happens next."

While Turner is thrilled to receive such an honor, he credits his incredible coaching staff, the hundreds of talented student-athletics, and the supportive administration and parent body with the success of the school’s athletic program.

"There are thousands of people standing beside me when I go to work every day. The enormous success Blessed Trinity has been able to achieve these past 8 years is directly attributed to the unselfish dedication of the BT community. I would never have received this award without their support. So while the plaque may say Ricky Turner, it means Blessed Trinity."

Congrats Coach Turner, job well done!
